The Molecular Immunology Lab (Bortoluci Lab) is located at the Center for Cellular and Molecular Therapy (CTC-Mol) of the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP) and is coordinated by Prof. Dr. Karina R. Bortoluci.

The focus of the laboratory is the study of intracellular pathways involved in the activation of effector mechanisms to control infections.

Using assays based on molecular and cellular biology, genetics and biochemistry, we investigate the participation of cytosolic pathways in the control of infections caused by intracellular pathogens, such as Salmonella typhimurium, Trypanosoma cruzi, Toxoplasma gondii and Zika virus by innate immunity cells and glial cells from the Central Nervous System.
